Secret of boards to icon longevity is their proper workmanship. Offered boards are made of hardwood in the following way:
- Seasoned and dried linden, alder, sycamore or poplar wood thick from 2,0 to 2,5 cm.
- Reinforcement of panel is made of oak wood or other tough hardwood.
- Panel is impregnated on both sides by rabbit skin glue and preserved with canvas.
- Panel is grounded with traditional mix of rabbit skin glue and mixed gilding with bolone gypsum, that mixture is applied in 12 coats.
- The ground is smoothed with sandpaper to suitable surface for painting in egg tempera.
- To gilding it is necessary to smooth ground with microgrit sandpaper P1200 or P2000.
